Steve Heid
Owner/Operator
Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Steve has a love for our city and a passion for being a part of its development. With over 25 years of experience in the building industry, Steve’s vast knowledge is suited for custom building homes. In an industry where continuous growth and innovation is a necessity, Steve is always looking to improve and try new and exciting concepts.
Each building experience with Lacey Homes starts with an initial meeting with Steve where he has an ability to listen and understand each individual client’s vision, and with the assistance of the Lacey Homes Team…bring each vision to life.
During the building process, he is engaged with each stage of construction, on every home. He sets construction schedules, works with the Lacey Homes team, and attends client meetings.
Custom building homes is as much about the relationship as it is about the homes we build. The connection that is developed between clients and our Lacey homes team is long lasting and built on a foundation of trust and respect. This relationship starts at our very first meeting and will carry on long past your possession date.
Mike Martel
Manager of New Homes
An exceptional building experience for every client are words we live by at Lacey Homes.
From the beginning of a project, Mike strives to make our clients dreams come true. Mike’s diverse experience in management and safety over the past 20 years allows him to handle all aspects of new home building management including scheduling, on site quality control, client walk throughs, client meetings, and engaging the trades in creating a quality built home for every client.
For Mike there are so many highlights during every build, like getting to know new clients and their families. By far, though, Mike’s proudest moment is the moment our clients step foot in their new home. The feeling of our client’s dreams coming true is palatable and so exciting for everyone.
Brent McNabb
Manager of Renovations
Brent was born in Calgary and moved to Medicine Hat when he was four. He is a journeyman carpenter and has been in trades for over 22 years. He ran his own company for the past five years before joining the Lacey Homes team in January 2022.
Brent oversees renovations and is engaged with every stage of construction. He sets construction schedules, coordinates with the trades, maintains quality control, and is the main contact for clients throughout the renovation to make the process seamless and stress free.
In his spare time, Brent is a coordinator for Medicine Hat Minor Hockey Association and volunteers as a hockey coach.
Lara Wasylyshen
Associate Designer
Lara is an experienced and innovative designer who strives to create fresh and thoughtful interiors. Born and raised in southern Alberta, Lara settled in the Hat ten years ago. She has always had a passion for design, dabbling in Art and Science before finding drafting and seeking a career in interior design.
Working closely with clients, Lara draws and presents plans using 3D architectural home design software. With a keen eye for design, Lara is here to guide our clients through their project, successfully bringing our clients visions to life!
Billy Retzleff
Lead Finisher
Born and raised in Kyle, Saskatchewan, Billy grew up farming on a small family farm. He started apprenticing for carpentry with Jacer Construction. He then became a journeyman building houses from the foundation up enjoying all the different aspects of the construction process. He took to finishing as it was the most enjoyable to him.
Billy moved to Redcliff to live with his girlfriend who is now his wife and to start his career with Lacey homes as a finishing carpenter. It has been a fantastic journey so far.
Billy and his wife recently welcomed their first child! They stay busy camping, hunting and fishing. They enjoy the outdoors all year round.
